Success Begins with Failure

Have you ever have issues finding something? Every customer who enters a store/restaurant or contact a company in other ways has a need. If you are in a position where you are looking for something specific, and you cannot find it, then you might be in the phase of “failure”. Failure to find something is the beginning of your success, because you might discover a new product or service that attract other people. It prepares you for a journey that lead to you asking questions about what you might need to create the “product” to specifically suit your need.
When it is impossible to find something, and we can easily or toughly create something, then it becomes possible and easy to have a product/service for a business. Your creativity comes to use, so will your skills and expertise, and more importantly, your needs. Why? Because we failed to find exactly what we need. This is not applicable to everyone.
We are picky about almost everything. How we look. The kind of people we socialize with, the kind of lipstick we use, and what we eat and drink. Let’s say I am hungry, and want to eat burger, but I want it to have a certain size, a specific taste, and aroma etc., and already know how restaurants make their food.
But I don’t want my food like that. I start experimenting with different recipe, until I found the burger that taste exactly as I want. Now, the path to success continues. Failure to find something leads to creating something that perfectly suits my need. After tasting and enjoying how it felt in my mouth, I start looking at the market. A business start developing, and I sell them in small quantity, doing the “market experiment” to evaluate how people will accept it in the market. I’m able to start a business. People loves and accept it.
The market want something specific, and you provided it, because like them, you failed to find it. If I could find what I was looking for, then I might not have an idea, nor establish a plan. When you personally needs something you cannot find, and you “manufacture” one to suit your needs, you becomes your first customer. You began with meeting your own needs, and therefore being in the position of a customer, and seeing things from their point of view. This experience could be a tool for acknowledging your customers need.
Most people who successfully run a business today have a story. If they don’t have a story, then they might not have any business, nor would they have visions and/or mission. Over the years, different businesses are enjoying the fruit of their effort and investments. There is a trend in how common businesses have established through the founder being in sudden need of something.
When it comes to the situation where a specific person is looking for something they can’t find, then it is disturbing, if not frustrating. If they fail to find what they need, and they have some kind of entrepreneurial way of thinking, then they could start to creatively adjust the available resources, and customize them to create exactly what they need.
